Epic Jungle Hike: Discovering the Beauty of Chilling Waterfall

We’re always on the lookout for new adventures, and this time, we discovered a real gem: Chilling Waterfall! It’s an awesome spot for a jungle hike that won’t break the bank because the entrance is free! The crystal-clear water and lush greenery make it a nature lover’s paradise. Come along with us as we take you through our epic hike to this beautiful waterfall.

Before we dive into our waterfall adventure, let us tell you about our recent trip to Pulau Perhentian (Perhentian Island). We had an incredible time staying at the Alunan Resort and enjoyed activities like sailing and paddle boarding. The island life was so relaxing, and the beaches were stunning. If you missed our island adventure, you could always check out our travel vlog about it on our YouTube Channel!

Now, back to the mainland and our exciting trip to Chilling Waterfall! We visited this place three years ago, and we were so excited to hear that it had reopened after being closed during the lockdowns. The anticipation was building as we drove towards our hiking destination. We packed our bags, laced up our boots, and prepared for an unforgettable trek through the jungle.

Chilling Waterfall is about 65 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. Getting there can be a little tricky since there’s no direct bus. So, what are your options?

  • Hire a Local Driver: If you’re lucky, you can find a local who’s willing to drive you there.
  • Rent a Car: This is probably the most convenient option, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

One of the best things about Chilling Waterfall is that it’s totally free to enter! Previously, there was a small fee, but now you can enjoy this natural wonder without spending a penny. All you have to do is fill in your phone number when you leave. Can’t beat that

The hike to the waterfall involves crossing six rivers, which adds to the adventure. The trek usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. The sound of rushing water grew louder as we approached the first river, and the excitement was palpable.

River Crossing #1: Embracing the Cold

Reaching the first river crossing was exhilarating. The water was so cold, it took our breath away! There was some hesitation before jumping in, but we eventually went for it. “Jump in first!” one of us shouted, and soon we were laughing and splashing around in the refreshing water.

As we waded through the river, we noticed little fish swimming around our feet. It was a unique experience to be surrounded by these little creatures as we navigated the rocky riverbed. We took our time, carefully placing each step, and used a rope that was set up to help pull ourselves across the river.

River Crossing #2: The Adventure Continues

After conquering the first river, we moved on to the second. Each crossing presented its own challenges, with varying water levels and slippery rocks. We helped each other, making sure to keep our footing and stay safe.

River Crossing #3: Cleanliness Concerns

The third river crossing was beautiful, but we were disappointed to see a plastic bag carelessly discarded in the bush. It’s disheartening to see people disrespecting nature, especially on the first day of the waterfall’s reopening. Environmental responsibility is something we take seriously, and we made a promise to pick up the trash on our way back. We urge everyone to be mindful of their trash and leave natural sites as they found them.

In 15 days, we’re embarking on a walk from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi to raise awareness about environmental issues in Malaysia. This trip is sponsored by Langkawi Pure and iWear Global. We believe it’s essential to respect and preserve our natural environments. Even small actions, like properly disposing of trash, can make a big difference. Let’s all do our part to protect the beauty of our planet.

During our hike, we stopped for a quick lunch break. In a funny moment, Fizah jokingly wouldn’t share her wet food. It’s these little moments of fun and playfulness that make our adventures even more memorable.

It is important when going to nature spots that you leave no trace:

  • Pack out all trash.
  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Leave what you find.
  • Be considerate of others.

River Crossing #4: Almost There!

With renewed energy, we continued our trek and reached the fourth river crossing. We were getting closer to our destination!

River Crossing #5

We approached the fifth river crossing with excitement. The sound of the waterfall was getting louder, and we knew we were almost there.

River Crossing #6

Finally, we made it to the sixth and final river crossing! The anticipation was at its peak as we carefully made our way across the last obstacle.

Reaching the Waterfall: A Rewarding Escape

The moment we finally reached Chilling Waterfall was magical. The waterfall was tall, powerful, and the water was crystal clear. It was a truly rewarding experience. The feeling of accomplishment after completing the hike and river crossings was incredible.

If you’ve never been to Chilling Waterfall, expect to be amazed. The water is cool and refreshing, perfect for a swim. There’s an open area where you can take a dip and shallow areas where kids can play safely. The waterfall cascades down from a significant height, creating a stunning visual spectacle.
